UN Regulation No. 156 - Software update and software update management system, which was officially published by the UNECE in March 2021, has created enormous pressure to act for the entire automotive value chain: from the OEM to the tier-n suppliers (along the entire product life cycle!), the required conditions must be ensured in order to guarantee secure software updates for vehicles.

In addition to UN R156 as the legal framework, there is also the corresponding ISO standard 24089, which is currently still under development and is not expected to be published before the middle/end of 2022.

This info webcast (live recording from the beginning of October 2021) presents the organizational requirements and highlights the establishment of the Software Update Management System (SUMS) in the organization.

Furthermore, it provides some valuable insights to understand the context around secure software update and the compliance requirements around SUMS.

Your speaker is Tobias Pilz, Senior Consultant at CYRES Consulting, experienced automotive cybersecurity consultant, part of the CYRES Academy trainer team and member of the DIN NA052-00–32-12 AK Software Update Engineering and thus also of the ISO/TC 22/SC 32/WG 12 “Software Update” covering the development of the ISO 24089.
