FAQs for taking the ACP Level 1 "Foundation" examination
  • What are the entry prerequisites required for the examination?
For acceptance to the ACP Level 1 "Foundation" examination, participation in both ACP Level 1 "Foundation" training sessions (Session I + Session II) is a mandatory prerequisite. Regardless of how the training is conducted (online/offline), identification of yourself (such as an activated and functioning webcam) is always required. Before the start of the examination, the associated Certificate of Attendance on participation in the ACP Level 1 "Foundation" training must not be older than 1 year.

Important: If you have not successfully completed the required ACP Level 1 sessions by the time of your booked examination, we have the right not to grant you acceptance for the examination. Any resulting cancellation of your booked examination date may be possible without refund.

  • What else do I need to do in advance of the online exam?
1. You need the (DSGVO-compliant!) video conferencing software solution alfaview for the exam as online live meeting - alfaview must be downloaded and installed in advance (more details after purchasing the exam).

2. You must register at least 5 days before the online exam on the official online exam platform of TÜV-Rheinland (PersCert) (Please note: There are specific requirements and information on this, you will get after purchasing the exam).


  • What do I need to perform the examination?
- Identification of your person: Please have an official ID document at hand that identifies your person without any doubt.

- Uninterrupted internet connection: Please ensure in advance that you have an adequate internet connection throughout the duration of the examination.

- Avoidance of disruptions: Please ensure that you are available for the entire specified period of time to complete the examination without interruption.

- Activation of your webcam: Please note that you must have your working webcam activated while taking the examination (More on this also below).


  • What exactly has to be done during the examinations?
The examination modality for the ACP Level 1 "Foundation" provides a question pool along the 7 chapters of the ACP Level 1 "Foundation" training content. From this question pool, 30 questions (multiple choice questions) will be asked during the examination. When answering the questions, none, one or more of the given answer choices may be correct.

70% of these questions (21 questions) must be answered correctly in order to pass the exam.


  • Can I receive the examination questions before or after the exam?
The questions of all ACP exams are subject to the copyright of CYRES Academy as well as the ACP Framework. Due to copyright regulations, the pool of questions cannot be provided (not even in excerpts). Furthermore, the ACP Framework regulations do not allow the questions to be made available in advance in order to ensure a fair examination procedure. As a result, it is not possible to obtain a detailed insight into your examination at the level of single questions after the examination.


  • Which supporting resources are allowed for the examination?
All training materials of the ACP Level 1 training as well as (if available) the hard copies of The Essential Guide to ISO/SAE 21434 and the ISO/SAE 21434 Pocket Guide published by CYRES Consulting are permitted as tools for the ACP Level 1 "Foundation" examination.

Also approved, if available on the side of the examinee, the ISO/SAE 21434 standard.


  • When will I receive the official certificate?
The certificate is officially provided as a personal certificate by TÜV Rheinland in cooperation with CYRES Consulting. After your passing the examination, the certificate will be created by TÜV Rheinland in the official certification process and handed over to you by CYRES Consulting (PDF). Please note that this may take 7-10 working days.


  • How long is the certificate valid?
From the date of issue, the certificate ACP Foundation Level with TÜV Rheinland Certified Qualification is valid for three years.


  • What is the role of TÜV Rheinland?
As an independent international testing service provider, TÜV Rheinland handles the certification of persons along the Automotive Cybersecurity Professional Framework (ACP Framework for short.) The validity of a person's certificate can be checked in TÜV Rheinland's "Certipedia" certificate database - assuming the certified person has agreed to the publication of the certified competence and paid the corresponding fee.


  • How can my certificate be listed on the TÜV Rheinland database (Certipedia)?
The registration on Certipedia is fee-based and voluntary, so the database does not contain all TÜV Rheinland certified persons. If desired, after receipt of your certificate, you will be given instructions on how to request your inclusion.


Why is the camera to be activated during the examination?


The Examination ACP Level 1 “Foundation” with TÜV Rheinland Certified Qualification) - conducted by CYRES Consulting in cooperation with TÜV Rheinland - as an official exam procedure is subject to the examination and certification regulations of the ACP Framework. In order to meet the requirements for the establishment and evidence of competence management (as required by ISO/SAE 21434 and UN Regulation No. 155), mandatory safety precautions are necessary during the examination. For example, during the delivery of the ACP Level 1 “Foundation” examination, as a a qualification certification measure, the activated and functioning camera is mandatory during the whole examination.
